Meet Gary Browne, this week’s campus celebrity!

Gary is a starting senior basketball player from San Juan, Puerto Rico. He is majoring in Sports Management and plans to graduate in May 2015. The Mountaineers have had an outstanding season so far as well as Gary himself with a record of 16-3 and 4-2 in the Big 12. Look for Gary as the Mountaineers continue their hard work in hopes of making a Big 12 championship appearance.

Q: How long have you been playing basketball?

A: Since I was nine years old.

Q: What has been the highlight of your athletic career thus far?

A: My freshman year when I hit two game winners against Cincinnati and Mississippi State.

Q: Have you found it hard being a student athlete?

A: No not really, school comes first playing the game I love is second but it balances out.

Q: What is your favorite memory with WVU basketball?

A: Last year when the fans rushed the court after the Kansas game.

Q: What made you choose to play for WVU?

A: The fan base West Virginia has, the coaches, the state itself and the conference.

Q: How do you spend your off-season?

A: I wouldn’t say I really have an off-season. My breaks are spent working out with the team and I am continuously working on my game.

Q: What are your plans after graduation?

A: My hopes are to play in the NBA

Q: What does being a Mountaineer mean to you?

A: Being a Mountaineer means living the dream that every single person wants to do to represent his or her state and the feeling of pride that West Virginia gives me.
