With Spring Break not far around the corner, what college girl doesn’t want to try and save a little money? If you’ve made a budget for your vacation spending- good job, you’re one step ahead of everyone. However, chances are you’re going to find yourself spending a lot more money than you initially planned.    That being said, why not prepare to spend more by spending less? In the next two weeks, you may definitely find yourself shopping for new bathing suits, tanning lotion, clothing, last minute flights, etc. I’ve searched and found a ton of places that offer student discounts... might as well make the most of it while it lasts!   Clothing:  READ MORE

Tips on Running

By Elizabeth Link
February 16, 2013 - 7:38pm

I would have never considered myself a runner... and I still don’t exactly now. I think of myself more as a semi-educated athletic person who attempts to run. Recently, I signed up for the Pittsburgh Half Marathon on May 5th of this year. For those of you who don't know, a half marathon is 13.1 miles.  Before I began working out at the beginning of the semester, I could barely run more than a mile and a half at a time. Now, five weeks later, I’m well on my way to running the whole race... or at least most of it. READ MORE

Valentine's Day

February 11, 2013 - 5:37pm

Girls love the romantic gesture. We love everything sparkly, expensive and insanely romantic. And that’s because movies make everything out to be one hundred times better than they might actually be in real life. Do you know a guy that would write you love letters every day for a year? That’s 365 letters, I can count on two hands how many my boyfriend has written to me. Unfortunately there aren’t many men in the world named Noah Calhoun. READ MORE

Valentine's Day in a College Town

By Khylie Heins
February 4, 2013 - 2:54pm

Valentine’s Day in a college town doesn’t need to be as unromantic as it sounds. Just because you live in the dorms or don’t have a car doesn’t mean that you’re restricted to a dinner in the Boreman Bistro. Be accessible- head downtown to one of the many dining options on High Street. Have a car? Check out Yelp for some of the best-rated dining locations in town. Staying home and saving money is always a great option too. What guy doesn’t love a home-cooked meal? Put those pinterest recipes to use! Be resourceful- see what’s happening around campus on the 14th by checking out the university calendar. You might be able to score a pretty cool and free event.   Valentine’s Day can and should be one of the highlight’s of your spring semester!...

Fall is My Favorite Time of Year

By Elizabeth Link
October 27, 2012 - 4:34pm

Fall is my favorite time of the year. If you think about it, how much better could a season get? The beautiful weather and scenery, picking apples and pumpkins, and Halloween all rolled into what might be the best season ever. The only thing I have to say is I wish that I could still get a tan, but I guess I can wait till summer comes back around.
