12 Reasons I Should Never Be Allowed To Graduate

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVU chapter.

1. My parents keep talking about this place called, “the real world”… I don’t know exactly what it is or where it is and I don’t think I want to find out yet.

2. Once I made my bed two days in a row… I think that was a record for me.

3. I still eat like a 5 year old and I don’t plan on changing that anytime soon.

4. I still need a daily nap. Honestly.. Can I please go back to Kindergarten?

5. Snapchat is the number one app used on my phone.  87 day streak?… yeah that’s totally normal.

6. Living completely on my own sounds terrifying!! Even though I don’t live with my mom, my roommates practically do everything for me. Thanks for making me dinner Kalea and Shan.

7. I’m really bad about talking back still.  Hopefully I can get rid of that before my boss realizes or worse… fires my sassy self.

8. Apparently in this place they call “the real world” you have to actually stick to the decisions you make.. whoever made that rule kind of sucks. I like to change my mind… a lot.

9. I don’t know how to pay taxes, file for tax return, and I think I might go broke once I have to fully take care of all of my financial expenses.  SOS HELP!

10. I’m planning on attending law school. That means I have 3 extra years before I have to be a grown up. That may have been a huge factor into my decision of actually starting to study for law school.

11. My friends and I go out to drink and by drink I don’t mean casually sip at a restaurant with appetizers.. I mean a few whiskey sours, a few lemon drop shots, and maybe a Blue Moon – Don’t forget my orange slice!!

12. I will never be mature enough for the real world.

I grew up in Charleston, West Virginia. Growing up here I knew there was a possibility of going to West Virginia University my entire life. Although I decided to start my college career at the University of Kentucky, those country roads led me back to WVU in the spring of my sophomore year. This was also the point when I decided to establish myself as a Broadcast Journalist student. Since this point I have strived to become the best possible journalist I can be. I am currently working as a weekend reporter for WDTV-Channel 5 in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Prior to receiving this position, I worked as an intern with WCHS-tv/FOX11, in the summer of 2014, where I learned critical editing, interviewing, writing, and speaking skills. I worked closely with anchors, reporters, editors, directors, producers, and even the web team. Aside from the television industry, I am the Campus Correspondent for the West Virginia University Chapter of the online entertainment magazine, Her Campus. Another position I currently hold is the Social Media Chair of WVU’s Radio Television Digital News Association Chapter. In the Fall of 2012, I became a sister of the Alpha Phi Fraternity, in which I held the position of ‘Big Sister Chairman.’ My other passions include horse back riding, scuba diving, being outdoors, and running. I am very adventurous and I try to stay well rounded. My goal in life is to live life to the fullest and be the best possible version of myself. My ultimate goal would be to earn a spot as a reporter/anchor for Fox News, New York. I plan to graduate in December of 2016 and look forward to my future.
