Spending Spring Break at Home: Ways to Make it Awesome.

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WSU chapter.

As a college student, we have such great expectations for spring break, even when you say the word spring break you think of Cabo, the beach, and leaving all your problems back at college. But the reality of the situation is that most of us are spending spring break at home with our family. This doesn’t mean that we can’t have as much fun as everyone else.  Here are 5 ways to have fun during spring break at home:

Take a Road Trip

Road trips are a great way to have fun well saving money. Get a group of friends together, pack some snakes, and jump into your car. This spring break me and my friends are planning to drive from Seattle to Portland and go hang out in Downtown Portland and spend a night there. Road trips are a great way to get to know your friends more and make new friends along the way. You don’t have to go all the way to Mexico to have a great time, you can pack your car up and get on the road.

 Let’s Go Hiking

If you don’t want to spend the night away from home, you can always spend the day out in nature reconnecting with nature and the rest of the world. Sometimes college is hard, and you spend most of your time stuck indoors studying for your exams but its spring break, its time to reconnect with the world. You can hike with friends and spend time with them or you can go and find yourself this spring break. Spend time with yourself and learn something about who your car this spring break and a hike is the best place to do this. No phones or wifi, so you must connect with the world outside your dorm room. You can also go hiking with your family and spend time with them.

Take a trip to the mall.

This spring break you can go do something that you’ve been waiting to do all year, SHOPPING!!! (just me). During the semester I spend most of my time studying and my college town in small without many good shopping spots so going home and getting to spend time at my local mall is amazing. This is a time for you to update your wardrobe and get some spring clothes for the rest of the semester. So, this spring break spend some of the money you have been saving over the semester and buy something nice.

Concerts

Living in a small college town, the only concerts I get to go to is the ones put on by my school. Spring break is a time to get to watch some of your favor artist that don’t normally come to colleges. This is time to spend time with good friends and some good music. There is nothing better than getting all dressed up for a good concert. Spring Break concerts are always the best, it is a good time for you to reconnect with friends that you haven’t seen all year and, also listen to your favorite artists.

Go to the Beach

Go to the beach this spring break and get some sun. Finally, the weather is better, and you can spend time out in the sun laying on the sand. This is also a time for you to reconnect with nature and yourself. The beach is the best place to be Zen and becoming a calmer person. Every time I go to the beach in my hometown of Edmonds, WA, even if the weather isn’t the best, I always feel more relax and more at peace with the world. If you can’t live near a beach you can always go and have a picnic at the park or spend time in getting some sun in your backyard. If your city is not having the best weather, you can always but a jacket on and take a nice chilly walk on the beach, like I will be doing because I live in Washington state and we barely get good sun here. But the beach is always a great place during spring break to get away from everything and everyone.

This spring break you might not be going on a lavish spring break experience, but you can always have a relaxing and fun spring break at home with your friends and family. Go shopping, take a road trip, or go for a long walk to clear your head, spring break is always a time to refresh and get ready for the last push of the semester till summer.
