Our 15 Favorite TV Couples

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WPUNJ chapter.

Television and movies have become inspirations and strong contributors to our society.   The shows we watch mold who we are and what we aspire to be in real life or even create a fantasy.  Whether it is how we dress, the music we listen to, or just how we live our life, we always find a personal connection in the shows we choose to binge watch.  But out of all the things that make up a great drama or sitcom, what’s would they be without a kick- ass couple?  As 20 something year olds, we all have that one TV couple we consider “goals.” In our real life world or fantasyland, this is who we look to as the ultimate relationship ambitions.  Here is a countdown of our 16 Favorite TV couples.

15. Marshall and Lily (How I Met Your Mother)

If you believe in love at first sight and goofing around, then you want to be Marshall and Lily.  They genuinely enjoy spending every waking moment together.  Whether they argue or are on the same page, they never fail to hold each other and appreciate the small significant moments.

14. Lucas and Peyton (One Tree Hill)

Luke and Peyton are the perfect example when it comes to ending up together in the end.  They were destined to be together from the very beginning and even though relationships came and went, and things did not work out at first, they were inevitable.

13. Lucy and Ricky (I Love Lucy)

The classic TV couple, Lucy and Ricky Ricardo.  If you haven’t watched I Love Lucy, maybe your parents have or I’m just old school.  But the original symbol of marriage with a hard working man and a loving wife is definitely this 50’s couple.  No matter what shenanigans she got into or silly schemes she plotted, Ricky always loved her to the moon and back.  We know who loved Lucy the most!

12. Jim and Pam (The Office)

To the King of getting out of the Friendzone.  Jim and Pam teach us to never lose hope and just because the person you love is with someone else, it does not mean “game over.”  Sometimes you just know.

11.  Ross and Rachel (Friends)

So what if they were on a break? She got off the plane, didn’t she?  This relationship was meant to be from the very first episode and we all knew it.  It was a rocky roller coaster through out all 10 seasons.  If they weren’t together, they were still always there for each other.  And when it came down to moving across the ocean, love always wins.

10. Brooke and Julian (One Tree Hill)

So Brooke had to kiss a few frogs, cheaters, teachers, oh and pretty sure there was a drug addict involved.  But the broken road leads you to where you’re meant to be.  She found someone who loves her more than she does and her “other half.” Silliness, passion and commitment is what they’re relationship is all about. Which is what everyone is looking for right?

9.  Carrie and Mr. Big (Sex and the City)

Add a fear of commitment, unfaithfulness, and basically dysfunction, Carrie and Big are definitely an iconic couple in today’s pop culture! So maybe their WHOLE relationship isn’t what we would exactly want, but hey they look great together!

8. Chuck and Blair (Gossip Girl)

Two powerful individuals from the Upper Eastside together are unstoppable! Chuck and Blair could conquer the world together with they’re money, great looks, and passion for schemes, this couple has the chemistry we all knew they had from the very beginning.  Although Chuck may have the past of being a play boy, he could not deny his heart belonged to Blair Waldorf in the end.

7. Meredith and Derek (Grey’s Anatomy)

Sure they might have started out as a drunken one night stand and he ended up being her new boss.  Then there was that teeny tiny detail that he was married when it happened.  All that aside, there is no doubt that the love Meredith and Derek had for each other was pure and true from the very beginning.  They were passionate about not only their job, but each other.  Well, how could you not love Dr. McDreamy?

6. Zach and Kelly (Saved By The Bell)

He loved her since day one.  As on and off as they were, they still managed to be best friends through it all.  Another couple we knew who was going to make it in the end.  As much as he loved chasing girls and being a play boy, Zach Morris never failed to be there for Kelly, his true love.

5. Eric and Jessie James Decker ( Eric and Jessie)

We know them from their reality show and envy all the instagram photos.  There is no doubt that this country sensation and football star are a beautiful couple.  With two beautiful children, Jessie and Eric slay the family goals game.  They’re goofy, beautiful, talented, and 100% completely in love! What more could you ask for? Besides he also brings her breakfast in bed. What a gem!

4. Jesse and Rebecca (Full House)

Motorcycle riding, rock ‘n roller with a sensitive side are the reasons every 90’s girl had a crush on Uncle Jesse.  Although over the years we saw him go from girl to girl, seeing him finally settle down with the beautiful Rebecca Donaldson made us smile.  Together they had the most beautiful family and they always supported each other.

3. Nathan and Haley (One Tree Hill)

The popular, cocky athlete and the nerdy girl who turned him around.  Nathan and Haley, yet another One Tree Hill couple, but one that stuck together through out! Through near-death experiences, psychos, and kidnappers, they’re love over powered all and were able to prevail through anything that came at them.

2. Monica and Chandler (Friends)

Okay, I don’t know about you but I am a sucker for the whole being best friends and falling in love type of story.  Even before they were together, they would pick each other up when they were down and there was always that spark.  They’re the couple that act like best friends but are deeply and passionately in love. They are the perfect mix of silly and serious.  Chandler and Monica, props to you.

1. Eric and Tami Taylor (Friday Night Lights)

Our number one couple goes to our favorite football coach and his first lady.  Eric and Tami Taylor are everything a marriage should be.  They work as equal partners and are able to comprimise and work through anything that comes their way.  Love, respect, pride, and family is what it is all about! Looks like “Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose” aren’t words to live by JUST for football!
