6 Quick Ways to Style Your Braids

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WPUNJ chapter.

One of the most common protective hairstyles for African-American women throughout the years is box-braids. But to jazz these braids up, there have been many different styles thought up by women across the globe. Here are a few quick braiding styles you can do to add personality to your braids.

  1. The Bun

One of the more commonly seen styles is the bun. It’s quick, easy, and only requires two rubber bands.

  1. The High Ponytail

This is the first step to doing the bun, but it can also be worn as a hairstyle. It can be done in many different ways and customized to fit your personality.

  1. The Half Bun

This style is easier to do than the full bun because you’re using fewer braids. It’s a simple way to add life into your braids.

  1. The Swoop

For the more formal occasions, this style can be worn and done in less than 5 minutes. All you have to do is 3-strand braid some of your braids to the side and secure them with a rubber band.

  1. The Tie

The simplest style that requires less than a second of your time is the tie. You can either use a rubber band or simply tie your braids behind your head as you would your sneaker.
