Spring is only two weeks away and Western is hosting a volunteer event to get us all into the spirit of the joy spring brings us. Spring into the Street is a program where students get to give back to the community and has been going on since 1995.

This year it will be held on Saturday 27th where check-in will begin at 10:30am at the Miller Plaza. From noon to 4 volunteers get to help with local agencies to focus helping children, poverty, the elderly, the environment and more.

Some participating agencies include Ministry with Community, Vine Neighborhood Association, Habitat for Humanity, WMU Landscape Services, Kalamazoo YMCA and many more.

Any student can participate. If you’re wishing to register with an RSO group you can indicate it on the application, however everyone must submit an individual application.

If you’re looking to get involved applications can be found at http://www.wmich.edu/volunteer/sits/sitsindex.htm

You can print and complete the application and it must be returned to the Student Organization Center in the Bernhard Center by 5pm March 12th.

For more information you can contact the SALP office at 269-387-2115 or email salp-intothestreets@wmich.edu

And if you’re constantly on Facebook you can find the event and become a fan of Spring into the Streets.
