Western Warms Up

Any transfer student knows that integrating into a new school can be difficult. With the Western Warm Up, new students can come and check out all the activities WMU has to offer. 

On Thursday January 26^th in the Bernhard Center, this year’s event was one of the largest. There were several different types of activities for students to check out. Some of these activities included WMU clubs, church organizations, Fraternities and Sororities, and a variety of WMU departments, giving students easy access to information.  There was something for everyone at the Western Warm Up. “I just transferred to Western this fall and I was looking for a way to get more involved, so the Western Warm Up gave me the opportunity to do that. I had really wanted to check out the psych club, and it was there so it was really convenient for me” says Junior Nicole Achs.

Not only was the Western Warm Up a good opportunity for students to come see what was out there, but it also gave students several incentives to come visit. Some groups offered free recyclable totes, candy, refreshments, t-shirts, and a variety of other goodies. Who doesn’t want free stuff?
