Join HC WMU for Fall 2012

Posted Dec 3 2011 - 12:49am

HerCampus™ WMU is a strong up-and-coming publication at Western Michigan University that has been featured in syndication on MLive and has produced hard-hitting pieces in addition to the profiles of big-name students, features on college life, and some of the most interesting columns around. We want you to become a part of this publication and help us grow even better, even faster, and become truly the college student’s guide to life.

Below are listed several positions which we’re seeking applicants for for the Spring 2012 semester. Working for HC is not paid, but it provides valuable work experience and an opportunity to see your work in print, to say nothing of providing an important and integral role in bringing the HC perspective to the WMU and Kalamazoo community at large.

If you’re interested, please send a resume (and optionally a sample of your writing) to katelynkivel@hercampus.com.

HC is looking for:

  •  Staff Writer:A Staff Writer for HC produces weekly articles on a variety of topics. Some staff writers produce weekly columns whereas others cover a wide variety of topics and types of articles. We are looking for anyone interested in these positions.
  •  Staff Photographer:We want to greatly increase the number of HC-originated photography used in articles. As such, we are creating the Staff Photographer position, who would be tasked with capturing or otherwise generating original imagery to go with articles in each publication.
  • Copy Editor:We aren't seeking many copy editors, but we are looking for some people who would be able to review the articles written by HC's Staff Writers for quality, professionality and journalistic tone. Ideal copy editors have a strong command of the English language and the ability to quickly review and edit work.

HerCampus™ WMU allows our staff a large amount of autonomy, while providing the kind of information that the students of the University need to know and want to read. Each week, every staff member contributes skills they hone working for HC to create the whole: an issue of the best work students have to offer.

We look forward to your resumes.
