When one thinks of William & Mary, they usually think of a school where parties go down everyday, ragers happen every night, and people RARELY enter in the library....right? Wrong.
But don't let that stereotype of our school throw you off. Maybe our campus isn't characterized as a “top party school,” but our typical party scene certainly isn't too far from that of other Virginia public schools. Sure, each college or university might throw down somewhat differently, but college parties are college parties.
I thought it would be interesting to see how other schools in Virginia celebrate the weekend (“weekend” being used loosely). In order to get a wider range of perspectives, I decided to ask Collegiates™ who were familiar with college parties outside of Greek life, about the typical weekend at their school.

Virginia Commonwealth University
After spending a semester at VCU I have realized there are plenty of different party scenes to be a part of. At first, it seemed like the only big parties that were happening were at frats. This is probably what it seemed like because we were rolling up with a group of like eight freshman girls and they were the only ones who would let us in and provide us with free shots of Burnett's. But, much to my relief, I realized there was other stuff going on. Recently I’ve been going to a lot of house shows because my friend’s boyfriend is in a band. There are a lot of local Richmond bands and it’s mostly students who attend/host these house shows. Most parties that I’ve been to (and enjoyed) at VCU are smallish and at someone’s house or apartment since basically everyone except freshmen live off campus.
