We’ve all been making memories this summer, but soon, all we’ll have is tan lines and photos to remember the amazing things we’ve done in the summer of 2013… or will we? To help celebrate a summer of fun and kick off the 2013-2014 school year right, Her Campus William and Mary is launching an instagram photo contest– HCWM’s Instasummer Giveaway!
We’re giving away five prize packs of goodies from some amazing brands to five 2013-2014 Tribe members in this giveaway. Our prizes are being provided by Rent The Runway W&M, Paxton 1345, and Zoe’s Chocolate. These prize packs include Chocolate from Zoe’s Chocolate Co.– the very company that served the last Oscars and White House Correspondents’ Dinners– and Rent The Runway swag, cosmetics from L’Oreal, a $20 gift card to JewelMint, and a pair of boxers from Paxton 1345.
How Does It Work?
Post a photo from this summer on Instagram tagging @hercampuswm, @paxton1345, @RTROnCampus, #ZoesChocolate, #HCWMInstasummer, and your submission category (it’s a lot, we know) by Saturday, August 17th at Midnight EST.
You must be following @hercampuswm on Instagram, and like Her Campus William & Mary, Rent The Runway W&M, Paxton 1345 and Zoe’s Chocolate on facebook to be eligible.
Your photos will then be uploaded to our facebook page in an album filled with entries from your category. From there, it’s your job to get as many people to like your photo as possible! The entry with the most likes in each category by Saturday, August 31st at Midnight EST will win a prize pack! The winners will be announced on our facebook on September 3rd and winners will have three days to give us their CSU#, after which a new winner will be selected if they fail to claim their prize!
Submission Categories
In addition to tagging your lovely giveaway hosts and #HCWMInstasummer you’ve gotta tag your category. We’ve tried to give everyone a chance to win with these categories, but for each there will only be one winner.
- #fantastictravels – Travel somewhere cool? Snap a picture of it for a chance to win! It could be in Paris, Dallas, or your local tourist hotspot.
- #staycation – Adventures can be found at home too! Whether you had a great party or barbeque, or spent it painting your nails and marathoning Scandal, show us your marvelous staycation!
- #dedicationtoservice – Did you spend your summer volunteering? Build houses with Habitat? Work to improve conditions abroad? We want to see!
- #researchrockstars – Did you work that lab coat? Pore through records and texts? As any W&M student knows, our fellow tribesmen do some pretty awesome research! Share your photos with us to ooh and ahh over!
- #summerstudies – Spend your summer on campus or abroad taking classes? We dig that too! Show us your summer class memories!
The Rules
- You have to have all the required tags on your photo, and it must be in on time or it is ineligible.
- The photo must be from this summer.
- You must be a William and Mary student in the Fall 2013 semester to be eligible.
- You must follow hercampuswm on instagram and like Her Campus William & Mary on facebook.
- You must like Rent The Runway W&M, Paxton 1345, and Zoe’s Chocolate on facebook
- By entering this contest, you are giving HCWM permission to post your photo on facebook. If you don’t want your photo on facebook, don’t enter that photo.
- Video entries are ineligible– sorry, it’s a photo contest.
- You may include whatever comments/captions you like in your instagram description– we will include them with your photo on facebook.
- Images edited with other apps are still eligible.
- Photos that we deem inappropriate will not be eligible, and if necessary, will be reported if it comes to our attention that the photo threatens another person or group of persons– but we don’t have to worry about that do we? After all, one Tribe, one family!
- We’ll also remove any comments on facebook that we think may be inappropriate or abusive.
- Only likes count towards winning– not comments. Anyone can like your photo (it doesn’t have to be just W&M students) so share it, tweet it, get it out there!
- People are allowed to like as many photos as they want– they’re not going to be foced to pick a favorite. However, it’s impossible to like the same photo more than once.
- You can enter as many times as you want– but you might not want to split the vote.
- You can’t win more than once. If you win two categories, you’ll recieve one prize. The next best winner who has the most likes between the two tied categories will recieve the other prize pack.
- This contest is not restricted to the ladies– guys can enter too! Maybe you’re hot for those chocolates, maybe you plan to give away or sell everything, maybe you’re just hoping to experiment with those L’Oreal products– it’s not our business what you decide to do with the prizes, and more power to you for winning!
- Use only photos you’ve got the right to use– no stealing random photos.
- If you win, you must email us with your CSU# by Midnight, August 6, or you forfeit your prize.
