When I first came to college my Freshman year, I learned a big lesson: do not over-pack and over-stuff your dorm room. The rooms at William & Mary are already small enough, there’s really no need to diminish that space even more. With that said, I also learned how valuable it is to make that space as comfortable and cozy as possible in order to make it a place you can enjoy in your down time. When sorting through Dormify and planning my ideal dorm room I had two ideas in mind: comfort and simplicity.

With such a busy schedule, running from class to class or meeting to meeting, my dorm room is my safe haven where I can come home and unwind. When I walk into my room, The Adrienne Quilt bedding will be the first thing I see and I’ll feel at ease coming home to both a cozy and stylish bed. The Happiness Printed Pillow is a lovely addition to the bed as an instant mood-booster.

I like to keep my room clean and clutter-free to avoid any unnecessary stress of worrying about all I need to clean and sort through. My biggest tip? Under-the-bed storage. The Navy Fuchsia Storage Boxes fit snuggly under the bed and give me extra space to store shoes, off-season clothes, books, etc.

I’m not too proud to say this, but I went through the entire last year with bare, white walls. I had all of my photos printed and ready to go but the thought of all dealing with a ton of those (pricey) Command stripes just fueled my procrastination. To prevent the same from happening again, I’ve selected the Photo Box Sign as a cute way to display my photos. Alongside the photo box, I’ve selected the “Do What You Love” Mantra Wall Decor.  This particular mantra spoke out to me as the perfect inspiration to continue working hard towards my future career and a reminder to never lose sight of what I love to do.

While I do enjoy going out with friends on the weekend, I definitely value the nights that I can stay in and relax with a good movie. On these nights, I like to wear my comfiest pajamas, make myself some hot cocoa or tea, and snuggle up in bed. The Teal Moss Stitch Throw is the perfect room accessory for the moments when you want to unwind and wrap yourself up inside a warm, cozy blanket.
