Spring Break Hot Spots for College Students

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wisconsin chapter.

If you’re like all of my friends and me, second semester is survived solely due to the vision of tank top weather and swimsuit season right around the corner. With spring break as the next exciting vacation happening, chances are you’re heading somewhere south to enjoy the tropical weather and to get a little color… (because winter has gotten rid of any glow we once had!) Here are a few places that you and your friends should check out in the next couple of weeks to make the most of your spring vacation:

1. South Padre Island, Texas

Those students looking for a combination of wild day drinking along with other entertaining day activities might be heading to this location.  From kiteboarding, to soaking up the sun on the best beach in Texas, to going out to the local clubs at night, your vacation to South Padre certainly won’t lack excitement. A major bonus is that you can also drive there. Although it might be a long day or two in the car, it saves you a lot of money compared to flying.  No wonder so many college students choose this way to spend their week off.

2. Panama City Beach, Florida

Did you really go to college if you didn’t spring break in PCB? Only joking, but Panama City is known for its popularity as a top spring break destination.  The entire city is catered to fun-loving tourists, and the beach is full of college student’s taking a break from the books and partying it up.  It’s very cheap and has popular artists come to perform on the various stages across the lengthy beach. You can also drive here, which is a plus!

3. Cancun, Mexico

Those college students with a little more money to spend are traveling to Mexico to spend their vacations on the coast of blue-green waters and super intense sun.  After such a long winter, students are wanting to warm up in the tropical country (and drink a few too many beverages.) It’s also a top college spring break destination because the drinking age is 18+ here!

4. Bahamas Cruise

This cruise takes you to Freeport where you get to participate in all of the typical spring break activities… but you get to party on a ship there and back.  There is a casino on board as well as games and shows to keep you interested the whole break.  Students love it because it has inclusive food and deals on drinks.  The beautiful weather on board is something no one could pass up.

5. Punta Cana

The Dominican Republic is another beautiful, scenic country where college students can travel to for their spring break. Punta Cana has the most beautiful beaches to soak up those rays and sip those strawberry daiquiris.  This vacation destination isn’t the typical crazy spring break place, but many college students go here to relax during their time off.  Many of the resorts are all-inclusive so you don’t have to worry about holding a place for cash in your bikini.

So whether the long winter has you are planning a last minute vacation or you’re already  wanting to prep for getting out of town next year, these are the places you’ll want to check out for the most memorable spring break to top off your college experience. Because nothing sounds better than a week spent sipping on drinks and having a blast with your besties, right?
