4 Essentials for Your Thanksgiving Packing List

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wisconsin chapter.

Now that we are more than halfway through the semester, Badgers are ready for a break.   Thank goodness for Thanksgiving! But because everyone is so excited to get home, it can be easy to forget some important things.  Here to help you out, a simple reminder of what you cannot leave behind this Thanksgiving break.

Your Laundry Bag

This may seem obvious, but make sure to take full advantage of your home washer and dryer.  Let’s be honest, the sketchy dryers in your building don’t totally cut it, so make sure to bring everything you think you might want washed.  This includes bedding, shower curtains, dish rags… the list goes on.  Just try to do at least some of the laundry yourself… your mother will thank you.

That Homework You Think You Can Put Off

Sure, Thanksgiving break is a great time for some R&R, but it’s good to get some work done during your free time.  It’s much better to spend a couple hours finishing off some reading, and avoid rushing through it the Sunday you return.  In the long run, you’ll be less stressed when a deadline sneaks up on you.

Workout Clothes

Who wants to work out after a HUGE Thanksgiving meal?  No one, that’s who.  Still, it’s important to keep up your routine, even when you’re away from school.  Extra points if you signed up for your town’s Turkey Trot.  Werk it, gurl!

Your Summer Wardrobe

It’s time we all accepted it: the warm weather is gone.  Take this opportunity to bring back clothes you know won’t be used anytime soon: flip-flops, extra swim suits, etc.  You’ll be glad to have the extra closet space and may even be inspired to buy a cute, new sweater.

As long as you remember everything from this list (as well as, you know, clothes to wear, toiletries, keys to your home…) you’ll be set for a successful, fun Thanksgiving break. Happy Turkey Day!
