This past basketball season was quite an emotional for Winthrop Basketball. The men’s basketball team conquered the Big South Conference, therefore having them move forward into the NCAA March Madness Tournament. Sadly, our boys did not make it past the first round, but as Eagles, but we are all still so proud of them!
As we all know, our very own Coach Kelsey had accepted the position to be the new head basketball coach at the University of Massachusetts, but suddenly decided that he wanted to stay at Winthrop. Students, faculty and fans everywhere were shaken by the news. Our emotions were running wild and we felt as if we were on a Carowinds rollercoaster (all of you Carolina residents know what I’m talking about). Here is a glimpse of what students here at Winthrop felt when all of the news broke out!
