Looking good is not only important when networking in college, it is important in producing one’s self-image. Most people who dress nicely, even if it’s only on special occasions, tend to feel better about themselves when they are all spiffed up. Image has a lot to do with self-esteem and looking nice is a good, easy way to boost your confidence.

However easy it may be, sometimes we just don’t have enough time or energy to look nice every day, all day. But, fear not ladies, you don’t have to be dressed to the nines just to feel good about yourself and boost your self-confidence. You don’t have to go all out, especially during exam time. Even if that cute guy in your Writing 101 course is going to be sitting right next to you during your final exam.

Since clothing does have a lot to do with how you and others see you, as well as how you act, here are some tips to dress yourself up with as minimalistic effort as possible during exam time.

Not feeling the constraint of jeans? That’s okay, you can totally dress up your yoga pants with a nice blouse. It can be floral, printed or just a bright color. Straighten your hair, let it fall around your shoulders, don a pair of slip on flats and you’re all set for that exam.

Got an 8 a.m. exam? No problem. Wear a pair of tights or yoga pants to bed. When you wake up, just throw on some make-up, a pair of dangly earrings, and a light scarf. (Light colors tend to make the heat more bearable than wearing all black)

Shorts. Shorts. Shorts. Here in the south, summer gets steamy and this year is no different. Grab a pair of shorts and a flowy top and you’re all set for a quick run to the student center. Just in case you run into a cutie, throw up your hair into a cute, messy, “I-totally-wasn’t-trying” bun and slip on some comfortable sandals you are all set to go.

So even though it’s pretty humid outside, most classrooms and libraries are going to be a bit chilly. So, one way to get away with a casual in between look would be to wear some tights with a tank top under a sweatshirt. That way you’re covered, but if you get too hot you can always take off the sweatshirt. Make sure apply some comfortable earrings and maybe a thin-chained necklace. We don’t recommend anything too bulky.

Gym clothes can totally be comfortable and, if you really don’t have too much time, they are the best because you can sleep, nap or run in them. A cute matching number with a high ponytail? Adorable! Believe me, everyone understands there are just those days when 24 hours just isn’t enough.

MAXI SKIRTS! Just a moment of silence, please, for the gods who created the maxi skirt. Maxi skirts are made up of some of the most comfortable and easy to move in material ever known to womankind. Maxi skirts are recommended for anything. They can make you look as casual as you want or even more dressed up than you feel and they always have the ability to pick up a girl’s self-esteem.

We understand that every day during exam time is a struggle. It’s hard to get up and make yourself look good. But, looking confident has been proven to increase a more positive mindset, which in turn can increase scores. If all of this seems a little over the top for you, that’s okay. Wear what you feel comfortable in and wear what you feel confident in, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. You’ll never go wrong with minimalistic eyeliner, earrings, a flowy top and a pair of tights. Remember girls, keep up the confidence and we’re sure you’ll succeed! Good luck on exams!
