The Forests in Our Hearts: A Poem

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Winthrop chapter.

The leaves are slowly getting crisper

It reminds me of how much I missed you

You walked all over me like the branches beneath your feet

When I began to snap, you never looked back

And now I am

Cold

Cold

Cold

I can feel the wind whip against my face

Like your words against my heart

You said that you loved me, so why did we part?

Your heart withered like leaves above me

When you opened your mouth to speak

There are no flowers in your soul only

Weeds that you grow

I’ve found a new love

Between nature and him

He speaks riddles that my heart

Understands

Together we find life in the forest

And our leaves are forever green

He makes me

Warm

Warm

Warm

Who says redheads have to have all the fun?
