College Sweethearts

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Winona chapter.

How do you know who you’re supposed to be with for the rest of your life? Maybe you think like me and wonder why love is more or less a game, instead of an easy math problem we can all figure out right when we know that it’s time. That brings up another question, when is the right time? According to the sweetest engaged couple, Katelyn Czeck and Luke Bollant, it only took about four months.

For the past four years, I have had the honor of knowing this lovely couple and the journey they have endured to find each other. With Katelyn not imagining life without Luke, I wondered what kind of similarities they shared besides the obvious, loving compassion and just all around wonderful personality. “The best similarity that Luke and I share is that we are each other’s best friends. Falling in love with your best friend is the greatest thing in the world!”

With Katelyn juggling not only the rock on her finger, managing living in Rochester, more than an hour away from her hubby to be, focusing on finishing her last semester at WSU and graduating as a nurse, which is her dream career. Katelyn is also finishing her final year with a internship at Children’s Hospital up in St. Paul. Luke, on the other hand, is up in the cities working a full-time job at Epicor Software and most likely dreaming of the golf course, and Katelyn, too. With a smart hubby thinking ahead, Luke balanced a heavy load of credits to graduate early, knowing his engagement date and planning ahead for the wedding. “I am blessed to have such an amazing bridal party, family, and friends that are so helpful; they are the best support whenever I need anything!”

The loving couple can’t wait until July comes around when they can walk down the aisle together in holy matrimony in Luke’s hometown of Siren, Wisconsin. The engagement not only has put a change on their love life, but Katelyn has recently became a well designed crafter, Pinterest scroller and recognizing her bank account is slowly ready for her to get married as well. Don’t worry ladies, your man will come soon enough. Like Katelyn has told me for the past four years, “be careful on the whole ‘friend-zoning’ thing and take risks, you never know who will come your way.”

Congrats Luke and Katelyn, I’m so thrilled to spend your special day with you! “I just cannot thank God enough for putting Luke into my life and for being able to spend the rest of my life with him!”

Meet our writer Courtney D. Jones! Courtney is a junior at Winona State University majoring in Mass Communications- Advertising. She is consistently busy juggling school, working two jobs, and on the recruitment committee for Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority, so coffee is a necessity. But not just any coffee, it must be Starbucks Blonde Roast, with a dash of peppermint mocha creamer and a fourth of a packet of sugar. She has a die-hard love for all things beauty and fashion, and dreams of owning everything on her Pinterest boards one day. With her bright and bubbly personality, she loves meeting new people and sharing a good laugh. As a Chicago native, her happy place consists of drinking a cold microbrew with her favorite Giordano’s deep-dish pizza while watching her beloved Bears team.
