Our teeth are chattering, our lips are chapped, and the lack of sunshine becomes more evident each day. A dose of vitamin “sea” is on everyone’s mind, and, for all those in the same boat as me, a reading week in the sun is absolutely essential.

So your bikinis are being shipped, your hotel is booked, and you’re counting down the days until the escape to freedom… but what exactly should you bring?! Her Campus has your back for all your spring break outfits and recommendations for items to splurge on. Pack your bags, collegiettes; it’s time to getaway in style!

1. Bathing suits

… and more bathing suits! Bring at least 5-6 pieces, as these will be the most worn items in your entire suitcase. Remember, you can always mix and match tops and bottoms as well! I personally love a neutral top with a pop of colour or patterned bottom.

2. Sunglasses

Bring your favourite pair of sunnies and a few cheap backups just in case (and to avoid the sunglasses tan from wearing the same pair all week).

3. Loose outfits

After spending long days in the sun, the last thing your skin wants is to be restricted in tight clothing! Bring flowy dresses, loose rompers, and maxi skirts for maximum comfort, yet still looking stylish and boho-chic.

4. Footwear

Multiple pairs of shoes are crucial. Bring simple sneakers for transitioning from snow to sun, gladiators for a dressier look, wedges for fancy dinners, and, of course, classic flip-flops for afternoons on the beach.

5. Hats

A wide-brimmed hat or baseball cap are not only practical for their ability to protect from the sun, but they also flawlessly add glamour to any simple outfit.

6. Sun-proof makeup

As most collegiettes won’t be looking to wear a full face of makeup to the beach, try sun-proof products instead! A BB cream with SPF will provide your skin with subtle coverage while still protecting from sun damage, and waterproof mascara is a must for tropical destinations.

7. Dainty jewelry

In terms of accessories, pack a few layered necklaces or even a gold body chain rather than lugging heavy statement necklaces! They add the perfect amount of modest glamour without being over the top.

Bon voyage, collegiettes! Her Campus wishes you an adventurous and safe spring break filled with fruity drinks, ocean waves, and sun kissed skin! Xo

You will typically see me with a large cup of tea and browsing social media under the fairy lights and reading up on my favourite lady bosses (Mindy Kaling let me be you please). Also my trivia regarding superheroes is endless. I have more music than time to listen to and someone definitely should consider taking away my blogging privileges. My love for pop culture is limitless and Netflix is the true MVP in my opinion. Contributor writer for HerCampus Laurier Stalk me and let's be friends here: Insta & Twitter: webofem
