Meet Pandy, one of Her Campus Wilfrid Laurier’s very own Marketing Team Leads! With a passion for fashion, we get the scoop on what style tips Pandy recommends. Here’s what the voice behind our Instagram account has to say about her experience as a Golden Hawk over the last four years.

What are you involved in on campus? Tell us about your positions and roles.

I am currently a Marketing Team Lead for Her Campus Wilfrid Laurier! I manage the Instagram account and contribute to event planning and promoting! I am a little bit Instagram obsessed and really into photography so it’s a pretty perfect role for me. I am also the VP of External Affairs for the Laurier Biology Association. It’s been a really fun year for us and I’ve helped plan some pretty cool events and trips. I am mostly in charge of getting external sponsorships and donations when necessary! I also blog for College Fashionista, a company based out of NYC. Every week I find a new individual to photograph and base an article on an element of their outfit.

What does being a Golden Hawk mean to you?

To me, being a Golden Hawk means devoting everything to your definition of success. This year I strived for academic and personal success. I was able to achieve goals and get involved at Laurier and it feels great!

What has been your most memorable moment during your time at Laurier?

It isn’t specifically Laurier related but I fostered a dog, Wade, and I’ll never forget the day I got him and the day he got adopted! Fostering is such an amazing experience. I can’t wait to do it again!

How has being a writer for College Fashionista changed your perspective on fashion?

College Fashionista has allowed me to embrace styles of all different types. I have learned a lot about how people use clothes to express themselves. It’s been super fun and I am really happy I took on this opportunity. I have always blogged about my own style so it has been nice to explore the styles of other people.

How do you feel about graduating? Are you ready to face the real world?

I am SO ready to get out of school and focus on things I am passionate about. As much as I have loved my experience here at Laurier I feel like I have grown a lot and am ready for whatever life has to throw at me. I am really, REALLY excited to get out there and show the world what I’ve got!

Do you have any goals you want to accomplish before you graduate? After you graduate?

I have already met a lot of my goals this year by being so involved within school and outside of school. I hope that when I graduate I can focus my passions into something I can turn into a career. They say if you are doing something you love that you will never work a day in your life!

What’s the story behind your nickname Pandy?

Amanda is pretty difficult to short form and I never really suited Mandy, so my friend swapped the M out for a P and it caught on from there!

What’s your favourite childhood memory?

I wanted ice cream so bad one time that I kicked a hole in my kitchen wall. My parents regretted putting me in Tae Kwon Do ever since.

What is your favourite outfit of all time?

Men’s T-shirt, oversized jacket and sneakers!

Give us your top two best style tips!

1.     There is never a “new black;”

2.     Wear what you like and don’t listen to any negativity. You are the artist, your body is the canvas and clothes are the paint. Own it.

We thank you for your dedicated commitment to making Her Campus Wilfrid Laurier such a success, and we hope you continue to show off your great sense of style, Pandy!
