This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Western chapter.

Ever thought you need a great list of inspiring movies that will spark your feelings, emotions and to teach you a valuable lesson in life? These are the top 10 inspiring movies that made me cry, laugh, and allowed myself to look at life in a whole new perspective.

1. Forrest Gump

The ultimate classic movie that teaches the audience about the true meaning of love and friendship.

2. Good Will Hunting

This is by far my favorite movie. It embarks the journey about a student who is genius at math and is abandoned by his caregivers at a young age. He knows little about how to love or to be loved until a math professor teaches him a valuable lesson.

3. The Pursuit of Happyness

The best movie that lectures the audience about perseverance and what it takes to reach success.

4. The Blind Side

A mother of two wants to physically and emotionally support a homeless student for reaching his football career. Little did she know that the student is changing her life as well.

5. Precious

An abused, bullied, and illiterate female student is doubted by her mom and everyone around her. She struggles to piece her life back together until she meets a teacher who believes in her capabilities.

6. A Walk to Remember

The best romantic novel/movie about a reckless male student who finds inspiration in the girl he once looked down upon. It teaches the audience about love, commitment, and faith.

7. Freedom Writers

A dedicated teacher in a racially-divided Los Angeles school who inspires her students to learn by writing journals regardless of the challenges that is posed upon her.

8. Cast Away

Stranded in an island with no way out, Chuck Noland (Tom Hanks) struggles to survive. He creates “Wilson,” a volleyball disguised as a human being, which is able to accompany him through his darkest fears. This movie teaches us about the importance of love and friendship.

9. 8 Mile

An aspiring white rapper that is faced with competition in the culture of rap music. His perseverance with his dream career allowed him to become recognized despite the drama in his relationships.

10. The Notebook

A perfectly classic romance/novel that touches the heart of the audience and lessons the viewer that true love will always find its way out of restriction.

A fourth year Western student double majoring in MIT and Visual Arts who has a voice to contribute her beliefs and attitudes through writing. A lover for animals, Cafe Americanos, fashion, Ed Sheeran, and casually enjoy dancing in her room to the funkiest pop replays.
