London’s First Float Therapy Clinic Is Just What Your Body Needs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Western chapter.

London just got its first float therapy spa called London Float. Their facility boasts six different float rooms that are available for individuals or partners. Each room has state-of-the-art cleaning and filtration systems built into the pods, ensuring that each floater has a fully-cleaned pod.

Float therapy is an up-and-coming wellness trend where people lay in a tub filled with over 1,000 pounds of dissolved Epsom salts. The high salt concentration makes bodies so buoyant that they will stay afloat even while sleeping.

According to London Float’s website, floaters’ ears will be just covered by the 93.5 °F water, which eventually causes floaters to forget where the water begins and their body ends. The end result is a quiet, relaxing experience that decreases stress hormones and increases ‘happiness’ hormones such as endorphins and beta-endorphins.

The sensory-deprived experience is said to improve mental health, decrease heart and respiratory disease symptoms, alleviate bone and joint pain, and even treat acne. In fact, it floaters often report life-changing experiences, and London Float has an entire page dedicated to sharing them.

Floating by yourself is $75 per hour, while a couples float is $115. Floaters can choose between a private pod or room, with private showers and change rooms attached to each.

Next time you’re looking for a way to relax, try something new with London Float. Even if you don’t have a life-changing experience, it’s a good way to focus on yourself and practice some personal meditation in a sensory-deprived environment. Happy floating!
