I’m over Kylie Jenner and I think you should be too.
For almost a decade now the Kardashian-Jenner clan has clogged our televisions, news feeds and now they are in our morning routines as thousands of girls use Kylie’s lip kit.
I have been a fan of reality television since I first watched Laguna Beach in the fourth grade. I used to love E! and would occasionally watch Keeping up With the Kardashians, but I never expected the family to be the next Kennedys.
My dislike of the family began when Kim filed for divorce after being married for less than 90 days, but I’ll save that discussion for another article.
Kylie was the baby of the clan and I never thought anything negative of her until two years ago. I’m not going to trash talk her because she got her lips injected, if anything I feel sorry for her. I feel sorry that she felt she needed to get some form of cosmetic surgery — yes, I know, it’s not actually surgery — in order to make herself happy. All young women have tremendous pressure to look beautiful and Kylie certainly has higher expectations to meet than most of us with millions of people watching her every move.
My issue with Kylie is that she grew up too fast. She could have waited a few more years to get her lips injected. Maybe in a few years she would have been happy with her appearance and accepted herself for who she was. I wish she had given herself a chance. Instead she exhibits her alterations to the world, which sends a message to other young women that they too should change their appearance. She’s even made me insecure about my lips and made me consider getting lip injections. It’s a shame for her and a shame for myself.
I don’t think it’s appropriate for people to write mean comments about her, she’s still a teenager after all. But, I do think it’s fine for people to have informed comments about her and disagree with her lifestyle.
Now her lip kit is definitely something I approve of, but I am over all the hype around it. It’s great that she’s trying to be an entrepreneur instead of just a socialite, but it’s just lip gloss. Calm down ladies. You will not magically transform into Kylie Jenner. Personally, I like my Kat Von D everlasting liquid lipstick, not because of the brand name, but because the product does the job right.
Oh and by far the most annoying thing with Kylie Jenner is that she tried to trademark the name “Kylie.” Kylie Minogue was around way before you and at least she has earned her fame through her god given talent.
