The Best Ways to Celebrate Christmas For Those Who Don’t Celebrate Christmas

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Western chapter.

For many people, Christmas is “the most wonderful time of year.” Pretty lights, presents, christmas trees, cozy fireplaces and yummy food, what more could people ask for in a holiday? However, not everyone’s that lucky and gets to celebrate Christmas, but they definitely can in spirit. Here are the best ways to celebrate Christmas without actually celebrating Christmas. Get ready to get into that holiday spirit!

1. Secret Santa with friends

You don’t need to celebrate Christmas to have your own Secret Santa. Get together with friends, exchange gifts and don’t tell anyone who your person is!

2. 12 Bars of Christmas

What better way to not celebrate Christmas by wearing Christmas hats and bar hopping?

3. Toronto’s Distillery District Christmas Market

Downtown Toronto holds an annual Christmas market downtown that has food, entertainment, shopping and more.

4. Scope Out Other People’s Christmas Lights and Rate Them

Anytime you’re driving take a look outside at all the houses decorated by Christmas lights. Play a game with friends or family in the car and rate the best decorated houses from 1-10!

6. Go to Any Mall to Sit on Santa’s Lap

Most malls across Canada decorate their mall from head to toe with Christmas lights, Christmas trees and more. The best part is in the centre of the mall there are usually people dressed up as Santa and their elves. Take a picture with Santa!

7. Watch Christmas Movies

Following Halloween, Chrismas has the best movies related to it. Some of the best include: Elf, Home Alone and The Grinch.

8. Make Pillsbury Christmas Cookies

Sugar cookies are always a good idea, but when they have Santa’s face or Christmas trees on them they tend to taste 10x better.

9. Decorate Gingerbread Houses

What better way to celebrate Christmas then get together with friends and have a gingerbread house making contest?

10. Listen to Christmas Music

The activity above is best done with Christmas music playing: specifically Justin Bieber’s Christmas album.
