UW Cute Couple Edition: Jenna and Sam

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Waterloo chapter.

In light of Valentine’s Day this week, I took the opportunity to interview the best couple I know; my roommate Jenna and her boyfriend, Sam. Jenna and Sam have been together for a year and 9 months now, and have tons of funny and sweet stories to share. Their stories had me saying “Aww,” more than I did at the last ASU Puppies and Parfaits event. Read on to learn more about their amazing couple goals;

How did you meet?

I went to highschool with Sam’s childhood friend, and he ended up introducing us when we were in grade 10. The first time we met was when Sam came with a bunch of my friends to the crepe cafe where I worked to visit me. For me, it was love at first sight, but it was only after I confessed to him 2 years later and we became best friends, that he fell hard for me too and we started dating.

Sam, describe Jenna;

She’s amazing. She’s very passionate about the things that she loves and she’s very kind. The best part is, she laughs at all my jokes. Jenna’s my best friend.

Last Valentine’s Day, I came to visit Jenna in Waterloo. She was writing an exam when I arrived, so I got a key to her room from her friend. Inside, she had taped 50 hearts all over her room, which I had to collect and rearrange so that they spelt out a cute Valentine’s Day message. It must have taken hours to make them all and spread them around her room. I was blown away; it was an incredibly sweet surprise.

Jenna, describe Sam;

He’s honestly my everything. He has a beautiful heart and is so caring. He’s the kind of person that will drop whatever he’s doing and come help you with whatever you need. He’s also so funny and makes the dumbest jokes all the time. We’re never not laughing.

A couple weekends ago, Sam came to visit me here in Waterloo. It was pretty late at night, and I really wanted those Pillsbury cookies that you bake yourself. It’s snowing pretty hard and Sam didn’t have boots or a hat or gloves, but right away he volunteers to check the convenience store near my house. When he gets there, sure enough, they don’t have the cookies. So I text him to just come home, but 20 minutes later he texts me from a Zehr’s telling me he literally ran there in the snow from the convenience store just to buy me my cookies because I really wanted them. Isn’t that just crazy? He is honestly the most selfless guy, I’m beyond lucky to have him.

Any plans for Valentine’s Day?

Since we’re long distance right now, we actually won’t be able to see each other on Valentine’s Day this year. Wwe just went out for a fancy dinner and celebrated a little early. And the weekend after Valentine’s Day we’re going to exchange gifts, so it’s kind of like we get two Valentine’s Days!

What is the best thing about your relationship?

We have a lot of fun together! Our sense of humour is similar, so we always find ways to make each other laugh! Even though we’re far apart a lot, we talk all the time and we tell each other everything so we stay really close even when we don’t see each other for a while.

Aren’t they just the sweetest? Just interviewing these two I knew they made an incredible couple, and have surely set the standards extra high for my future boyfriends!
