Comedy for Breakfast, Drama for Lunch, and Thriller for Dinner

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Waterloo chapter.

Reading week is the time you should to be “studying,” but does anyone do that? No one honestly spends 24/7 studying, because this is the only whole week you get to truly relax and pamper yourself. And don’t worry if you’re not able to go on a road trip, or to a beautiful beach for the week. You can say right at home, grab a bowl full of popcorn, wrap yourself in your cosiest blanket, and catch up on the following TV shows.

1. Riverdale (2 seasons)

I’m sure most of you have already heard of this show. It’s a show that took 2017 by storm due to the immense drama it contains.

The show is based on the famous Archie Comics. It revolves around a fictional town called “Riverdale” and the mysteries it holds. The provocative factor in the show comes from the dark twist it gives to its source material.

The show won’t let you stop staring at your screen. I mean, literally. Look at all the eye candy.

And my absolute favourite part of the show is my OTP: Bughead!

2. The Good Place (2 seasons)

This what you’d call a hidden gem. The show is a sitcom and has a continuous storyline that motivates you to watch it till the very end. It revolves around a girl who was supposed to end up in hell but has instead found herself in heaven. Now, that may not seem like such an interesting idea, but she creates havoc in heaven.

The show just completed its second season and is set to return in Fall 2018. Everyone is on their toes for the next season!

3. Altered Carbon (1 season)

This show is a complete newbie. It came out on Feb 2 and already has people talking about it. It is a scientific thriller set 300 years in the future, where consciousness is digitized. That sounds weird, but it basically means that your memory and intellect is infinite and digital.

It is even more gripping because it also involves a mind-bending murder mystery that is bound to keep you wondering throughout the week. It has received rave reviews regarding the story, the visuals, and the actors’ performances. Here, see it for yourself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhFM8akm9a4

4. The end of the f *** ing world (1 season)

Now, this is a show that will absolutely blow your mind. It’s an edge-of-the-seat thriller that’ll keep you hooked till the very end. This show was released in October of 2017 and is now gaining immense popularity due to the actors’ brilliant performance and its unique storyline.

The best part about this show is that it just completed its first season and is easy to catch up on in just a week, since there are only 8 20-minute episodes so far.

WARNING – Can be completed in 3 hours ;)

5. Lucifer (3 seasons)

Although this show has already begun its third season, you can still easily binge watch it. Plus, you won’t regret it (trust me). I mean, just look at Lucifer:

*drools*

The show is about Lucifer, the original fallen angel, and how he comes  to enjoy Earth after getting bored in Hell. He lives a lavish lifestyle and sleeps around with women till a murder takes place.

The show is now on season 3. Once you start watching, this cutie just won’t let you stop!

6. Drake and Josh (4 seasons)

“HUG ME BROTHA!”

If you didn’t get that reference, you missed out on a lot in your childhood. A childhood without Megan’s smartass comments, Drake’s playboy ways, and Josh’s foolish attempts at getting a girl.

I always aspired to be like Megan. She was a role model to all girls with idiotic older brothers. I mean, who else could be as sassy as Megan?

Drake and Josh is a classic and the type of show that will instantly put a smile on your face. Ask any 90’s kid and they’ll tell you how amazing the show is.

Now that you know which shows to catch up on, what are you waiting for girls? Get into your comfiest onesies, grab a tub of Ben and Jerry’s chocolate fudge ice cream, and watch any of these amazing shows.
