6 Questions You’ll Inevitably Be Answering This Thanksgiving Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Waterloo chapter.

It’s that time of year again, feasts of festive food and seeing extended family. Below are six questions you’ll probably be asked by your relatives…

1. Sooooo, do you have a boyfriend yet?

Sorry I’ve been so busy trying to balance school, extra-curriculars, applying to co-op, working part-time and just living life so excuse me if I haven’t had the time to meet a boy. Next question please!

2. Are you sure you don’t want to live at home?

Yes, there’s better food, and sure I’d love to have my car back but that is nothing compared to how much I do not miss being told what to do. I love you all, but I cannot keep having this conversation. I AM A FREE WOMAN NOW!

3. How’s school?

Chrissy really sums it up here, I mean there really aren’t any words…at least not the words you want to hear Aunt Jen.

4. Shouldn’t you be studying right now?

Really, you had to go and bring this up… on Thanksgiving? I came here to eat some turkey and pie in peace, so let’s just leave this one alone for today, okay?

5. Are you liking everything at school?

I just miss my big bed, and shower, and overall personal space really – these dorms are so much smaller in person. But sure, besides the small stuff, things are great!

6. So you definitely don’t want to be a doctor (or literally anything else than what your plan actually is)?

Maybe I’ll get a stamp made or something because I don’t think you guys are hearing me when I say “LET ME LIVE MY LIFE!” At this point, I think I’ll just take my turkey to go. I’ll see all of you & your questions at Christmas!
