Michael Kaushansky 2019

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wash U chapter.

Meet this week’s Campus Cutie, Michael!

Majors/Minors?

Finance with a Psych minor. I’m working with a few others to create a social impact minor as well.

Wait, so what’s the deal with this new minor?

So many people at Wash U aren’t aware of how their future careers can impact their communities. The B-school has a bad rep because it is always focused on profits, so I wanted to create an opportunity for people to think about larger issues and how they relate to business. It probably will be available in Fall of 2017!

Hometown?

Long Grove, Illinois.

Close to Chicago! How about that Cubs World Series Win this week?

It was great to see Chicago come together and celebrate this huge moment in history. Couldn’t have asked for a better game.

Other than watching baseball, what do you do outside of class?

I am SAE’s philanthropy chair and a member of AKPsi. I’m the VP of Finance for Moneythink. I’m also a TA for QBA. I recently joined Wash U’s Hula team, come see us at LNYF! My biggest commitment is my startup, GIftAMeal.

Tell me more about GiftAMeal!

It’s a mobile app company where we partner with restaurants and donate a meal every time someone takes a picture of their food on the app. We have about 100 restaurants in St. Louis and 20 in Chicago. Everyone should download it- it’s in the app store for both iphones and androids!

As someone involved in the restaurant industry, what would you consider the best restaurants in St. Louis?

The Tavern in Central West End, Tani in Clayton, and The Kitchen Sink downtown!

What’s your favorite food?

Sushi.

Other than the ability to eat a ton of sushi in one sitting, do you have any hidden talents?

Ummm… I can do a backflip? I do Karate. Also my dance moves are fire.

Rapid fire question time!

What was the coolest place you’ve ever travelled to?

Either Latvia or Belgium, both are beautiful and have great food.

Celebrity crush?

Jennifer Aniston. Just kidding, Katy Brainerd!

Favorite TV show?

How I Met Your Mother and Game of Thrones.

Favorite band?

It’s a tie between American Authors, Twenty One Pilots, and The Beatles.

Best pick-up line?

Hey. If you were a vegetable, you’d be a cute-cumber.

Most important piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Always try to live in the moment and be happy.
