Ish Fofana

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wash U chapter.

Meet this week’s Campus Cutie: Ismael Fofana. You think his name is cool? Well, his nickname, Ish, is even cooler. Ish is a Dutch citizen, former Bollywood dancer, and star high school wrestler. You think he looks familiar? It’s because he’s a student by day and model by night: he’s featured in Armour magazine quite a bit. Lucky us: Ish is the whole package. He’s smart, athletic, handsome, and quirky. Enjoy!

Hometown: Brooklyn, New York

Grade: Sophomore

Studying: Political Science

How did you get this cool nickname? My mother started calling me Ish and somehow people find it easier to understand.

What are you involved in on campus? Sigma Chi, TEDxWUSTL and I actually just finished my term on Treasury.

What’s your motto? Laugh at yourself often.

Favorite foreign food? Not sure if this counts as foreign since I’m Caribbean, but it has to be Roti with curry chicken. It’s basically this soft bread stuffed with spicy chicken. I haven’t found a place in St. Louis that makes them though.

Do you cook? I only make breakfast foods and this specific brownie recipe called  “Brooke’s Best Bombshell Brownies.”

Celebrity boy crush? Rome Alexander.

Celebrity girl crush? Solange.

Tell me about your first kiss: It was the summer after 10th grade and I felt like Taylor Swift.

Do you have a kryptonite? I love a good book cover.

What do you listen to when you work out? If I worked out, I’d listen to Rihanna.

What’d you want to be growing up? A spy! My mother would get me all of these gadgets like walkie-talkies and invisible ink pens. I was looking at my “spy journal” over break and I really only wrote down what people were wearing, so I don’t think it would have worked out.

Any weird habits I should know about? When no one’s looking I dance on that small road leading to Hitzeman. I also perch on the couches in my suite. And I pull all nighters before trips so I can fall asleep on the plane.

Where do you see yourself in ten years? Tough question, I have a lot of interests that I haven’t figured out. I guess I’m most interested in not hating my life in 10 years.

Describe yourself in one word: Practical.
