6 Signs You’ve Mastered the Texting Game

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wash U chapter.

The true test of a relationship isn’t whether you can remember your friend or significant other’s birthday and favorite movies. No, you know you’re on the next level when your texting game goes from awkward and formal to “couldn’t care less.” Where do you stand?

1. Double texting is the norm: Why stop there? Triple text… or quintuple text. Or just have a whole conversation with yourself while you’re at it.

2. You’re not playing the “timing game” anymore: Instead of waiting five minutes… or ten… you can just text back when you feel like it. A novel concept, right?

3. Autocorrect ceases to be embarrassing: Sure, we all know that 90% of the time you’re not “ducking” mad about spilling your drink on your new shirt. But we still ducking love when your phone thinks it knows what you’re trying to say better than you do.

4. There is no need to apologize for late-night drunk texts: Smart phones and alcohol might not be supposed to mix, but it’s really fun to watch when they do.

5. You’ve let emojis run wild and do the talking for you: Your mastery of the smiling poop emoji makes your friends question whether or not we’re heading back into an age of hieroglyphics.

6. Sending selfies via text because you’re okay with those pics being permanent: If Hillary and Meryl can do it, so can you.
