10 Reality Shows For When Your Reality Isn’t the Greatest

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wash U chapter.

Reality shows are probably the best type of shows there are. Remember the good old days of MTV when you would turn the TV on and see one of the many 30 minute dating shows? Hop in a time machine and enjoy the list of the best reality TV shows.

1. The Bachelor

If you haven’t heard of The Bachelor you probably live under a rock.

2. The Hills/Laguna Beach

This show is just great because of how insane these teenagers are. Their social lives are incredible.

3. Keeping up with the Kardashians (Season 1)

The Kardashians Season 1 is pretty much the most amazing thing that has ever hit television. It reminds us of the reason why the Kardashians are so loved today—they are absolutely hilarious.

4. Parental Control

Now we hit the first MTV dating show, Parental Control. If you haven’t heard of this show it’s pretty much about parents who don’t like the guy/girl their son/daughter is dating so they set him/her up with someone else. It’s pretty ridiculous but also great.

5. NEXT

Best part of the show: when someone walks out of the NEXT van and the girl/guy says next right away.

6. Room Raiders

It’s pretty interesting seeing the weird stuff people keep in their rooms.

7. A (double) Shot at Love

This dating show is so ridiculous. In practicality, it’s more of a raunchy version of the bachelor. Also, if you haven’t checked out Tila Tequilas songs, get on it.

8. Rock of love

It’s amazing to me that someone actually famous would want to do this…

9. Flavor of love

This is the start of all of the dating shows. It’s so entertaining and Flavor Flav is hilarious. If you haven’t seen this show, I really recommend. Also, he nick names all the girls at the beginning of every season. It’s a must see

10. Beauty and the Geek

Last, but CERTAINLY not least, Beauty and the Geek. Beauty and the Geek is essentially about pretty girls and geeky guys helping each other. The girls teach dating skills and teach them how to dress. And the guys teach the girls academics. It’s really really funny and entertaining and potentially my favorite of all the shows listed.

Rachel is a junior in Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis. When she's not using her status as a twin as her obvious fun fact, she'll probably tell you that she loves photography, concerts, travel, Buzzfeed, and slaving over clever Instagram captions.
