I have always been different; Somewhere amongst the infinity of my subconsciousness, there is an uncontrollable thirst for diversity and extreme hunger for expansion of my own mind. “Normality” has always been my sworn enemy, although its own existence is questionable. When the mind is opened to the world and tries to comprehend it, it becomes more and more clear that normality can be the limitation to a world where anything could be possible. In addition to these characteristics that conservative and morally ‘correct’ parents would run away from, I almost have a physical urge for movement; this necessity consumes my entire body, my life needs to be moving as fast as possible. The less my senses are active, the more I start to lose myself into a life of instant depression. Sometime in my life, there was a chip implemented, which ultimately became a seed of thought. A thought that was annexed with my internal self in the slow process of growing up; this seed was curiosity.

As with any human being, the environment that surrounds us needs to concur with the necessities that each individual needs. And believe me, the city that I live in fulfills all these abnormal necessities that I have. My city is the direct product of the mixture of conservatism and liberalism; Tokyo can only be described as a city where its culture contradict itself. This city has unified conservative traditions with extreme liberalism, and its resultant product is pure craziness. There is nothing that human creativity cannot create in its infinite kingdom. It is important to remember that my city is considered the most populous and largest metropolitan city in the world, and this only means that the city is never asleep. Let me tell you, there is something almost omnipotent about Tokyo; The city is always alive. All of these social conditions that Tokyo has constructed ultimately affects our mentality directly; When such diversity comes together with movement, the line of normality becomes much more fluid.

This is exactly the place that I need to be, a place where all freaks and weirdos of all around become part of a social movement of creativity. It is almost ironic how everything that was a weakness when you were younger, starts to become the best part when you grow older. Unfortunately, there are still countries and cities that suppress this craziness that already exists within ourselves; There are places where the social norms are only based on economical values. It is incredible how ‘the happiest places’ in the world are still ruled by elitism and classism, and diversity is not considered an important social component. The worst part is that oppressing creativity, craziness and open-mindedness is passed throughout the generations; Parents are solemnly dedicated to traditional religions, and their kids are focusing only in monetary values. These kids will ultimately become the leaders of these places, and the same boring and ridiculous cycle will continue.

Tokyo is all about who you are and the potential that you have; As the line of normality becomes a secondary matter in judging other people, external factors like gender, sexuality, ethnicity and religion become less important when it comes to human connection. Nevertheless, these characteristics that divide us from the rest become the aspects that you embrace about yourself. The strangeness and weirdness of Tokyo can even change the identity that you carried your entire life. The traditional social norms that were incorporated in our identity are easily destroyed in Tokyo, and it is incredible. Expansion of the mind can only be succeeded when society embraces our own unique characteristics. Once you have entered a city like Tokyo, and lived the life that Tokyo provides you, you will never be able to limit your mind anymore; Possibilities of your personal identity and gender, of your intellectual capacity has already expanded too much to contract again.

The constant movement of the lifestyle in Tokyo is a given; While the majority of people are concentrating in their infinite responsibilities in the daylight, they are also waiting for the second phase of the day, night. Tokyo is also characterized by its nightlife; Within its craziness, Tokyo becomes almost like a circus at night. All the clubs are open until dawn, each and every one different from another. Each part of Tokyo will provide you with a different sneak peak into the complexity of human life and its diversity. The infinite number of lights and the immense amount of people become a part of you while walking in the streets of Tokyo. The incredible part of this life style is that everyone can be a part of it, without any age or ethnical limitations. It is a unique feeling that only a few places around the world can provide you, and I was lucky enough to be able to live in a city like this.

I am not here to bore you with all the details of my personal life, I am who I am and it is almost impossible to define a personality. Moreover, I am constantly changing alongside with my city; I will always be learning something new every day, opening my mind and my possibilities. Today, I just wanted to introduce a little bit of my world; as Tokyo is a part of me, I am also a part of Tokyo. I guess, some might think that I am just a crazy weird person, but you know what? It’s fucking awesome.
