Her Campus: What’s your hometown and your major and minors?

Shelby Devine: I am from Fayetteville, Arkansas but now live in Charlotte, North Carolina. I am a Politics and International Affairs major and a Religious Studies minor.

HC: Which organization on campus nominated you for homecoming court?

Shelby: I was nominated by Cricket Club.

HC: What other clubs or organizations are you involved in on campus?

Shelby: I am the Student Government Secretary, a President’s Aide, a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, and a former writer and editor of the Old Gold & Black

HC: How did it feel to win homecoming queen?

Shelby:  I was so honored and excited! It reminds me how fortunate I am to be surrounded by such amazing friends here.

HC: Are there any fun perks to being homecoming queen?

Shelby:  So many people have congratulated me which has been really sweet. And I get to keep the crown! It’s been a wonderful experience.

HC: As a senior, and our homecoming queen, do you have any advice for freshmen?

Shelby: My advice is to get involved, be open to discovering new interests and passions, and be kind to everyone you meet. Work hard and do your best in your classes, and take time to build friendships with the amazing people around you. It can be difficult to find the right balance, but it’s important to learn what works for you.
