S’GO Excetral Caldwell: Wake’s New Social Chair

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wake Forest chapter.

Between co-developing TheCampusSocial and trademarking the abbreviation “S’GO,” Excretal (Cet) Caldwell (’14) is officially the most social guy on Wake’s campus.

TheCampusSocial is a website tailored to Wake students that promotes events on and off-campus and offers various deals from local restaurants and bars (awesome!).

“I want to enable every Wake Forest student to be his or her own social chair, on campus and off campus,” says Cet.

But here’s the catch, “You guys dictate the deals,” according to Cet.  For example, the quota for a drink special at Last Resort could be set at 100, which means 100 Wake students have to log into TheCampusSocial and click “S’GO” or the special will terminate.

So, what’s S’GO mean? S’GO is Cet’s original abbreviation of let’s go.  The abbreviation was trademarked at a tailgate one day when he started chanting “S’GO Deacs” because it was shorter than “Let’s go Deacs!”

The genius factor of this site is that no one knows who’s clicked on the deal or committed to the event. For Cet the site is about “going where you want to go rather than who’s going.”

The RSVP list might be anonymous, but the pictures will tell all. TheCampusSocial has a photo blog section on their site to showcase highlights from recent events.  Cet hopes to give students the ability to upload their own photos directly to the site (only if they’ve been properly cropped and filtered via Instagram of course).

“For three years I’ve seen a disconnect between the Wake Forest student body and Winston-Salem community,” said Cet in response to being asked what the principal inspiration for this cite was.

How has the Winston-Salem community responded?  They’ve been overly receptive!  It’s great advertising for local businesses and gives us Wake students a better reason to go out and socialize beyond our campus (win-win!)

It also doesn’t hurt that Wake alumni own some of our favorite restaurants and bars, such as The District Bar and Grill.  Cet hopes to start “utilizing their rooftop bar.”  Yes, please!

So it’s time to start getting social and check in to TheCampusSocial.  S’GO already!
