The Real Deal on How to Become a Morning Person

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wake Forest chapter.

If you’re anything like me, you think waking up at 7 a.m. is the worst idea in the history of ideas. Who wants to wake up at 7 a.m. when you have a pesky 9 a.m.? Well, I thought this way until I saw the transformation my lovely friend went through. She is the most pleasant person to be around, such a ball of joy since she became a morning person.

1. First things first, morning sunshine.

2. Make a schedule you can adhere to.

Make a list and check it twice. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing a day of chores checked off. You will feel so accomplished.

3. Go to bed at a reasonable hour.

No one wants to go four years with Gucci bags for eyes.

4. Wake up at a reasonable hour.

Don’t waste your life away in bed.

5. Make yourself your favorite cup of tea, coffee, or whatever brightens your day.

Nothing says it is going to be a great day better than your favorite morning pick me up.

6. Do morning yoga. Go for a brisk walk or run. Read the news.

Activate that knowledgeable brain of yours.

7. Lastly, document your journey and don’t forget to smile.

Because it is going to be a GOOD day.

Makenna Dixon-Essien is your average Bay Area native who embraces her inner Martha Stewart, loves animals more than life, and lives in the clouds. She aspires to be the next Jane Goodall or George Schaller because who wouldn't. In her free time. . . just kidding she's pre-vet and has no free time. However, she enjoys spending the majority of her day socailizing, listening to music, and reading. She loves all things oragnic and wastes her summer Saturday's at the farmers market. You will always catch this girl laughing life away, especially when she has good company or a pup to play with. Fell free to leave comments and ask her questions, she is extremely friendly. :)  Follow her on twitter @makennade_ WFU '20
