As I commence my fourth school week of college, I lounge in the comfort of my elevated twin bed writing about my top three college essentials. As one of the millions of freshmen girls who have been thrust into the overwhelming, thrilling and fast paced lifestyle of college, I have found these three items imperative to easing the whirlwind of navigating this brand-new environment.
1. EYE MASK! There is simply nothing else in my dorm room that I admire more than my Donna Salyers’ Fabulous Furs eye mask (except for my stash of dark chocolate, of course). My eye mask has shielded me from the blinding rays of morning sunshine sneaking past my blinds, fluorescent strobes from the fire alarm system at 1:30 AM on a Wednesday and the buzzing notifications of my phone. Seriously, ladies, it changes lives.
2. As referenced above, a little (or big) stash of your favorite sweet or snack. Tune the “freshman fifteen” anxiety out because everyone deserves the comfort and refuge of their favorite snack in the early morning hours where papers are being written and exams are being frantically studied for.
3. Fun, comfy slippers! You would not imagine the icky, sticky, gooey, crumby, and indescribable substances scattered throughout the carpets and floors of a dorm hall floor. I really cannot stress this enough, and you don’t want to learn the hard way – trust me.
Although short and sweet, my college essentials list is bound to grow immensely as this school years flows on –stay tuned for the additions to come!
