Another Coachella has come and gone, and as much as it embodies music festivals, Coachella is actually a fashion event too. Music-loving hipsters (or wannabe hipters, lol) from all over the country throw peace signs and wear excessive flash tattoos, flower crowns, fringe, and as little clothing as possible. My thoughts about this event are love-hate, but I will say that the two major facets of music festival fashion statements — being laid-back and free — are fun to play with!
If you know of ‘Chella, you also know that there is a reigning queen of the festival. Most famous from her starring roll in Disney’s High School Musical franchise, Vanessa Hudgens embraces the hippie style of this event like none other. Wearing little-to-no clothing is not ideal in a college setting (at least in class — darties are a different story…), but we can use Hudgens’ carefree look to inspire us for fearless fashion in the Forest. Here’s a PG-rated re-creation of one of the all-time greatest Coachella looks:

Now that you know how to dress like a carefree California girl, it’s only natural that you feel carefree, too. As the semester winds down, imagine the North Carolina air around you as the warm SoCal sun…I promise it’ll make finals a little less torturous. Keep in mind, as always, it’s not what you wear, but how you wear it!
