Now that we’ve reached mid-September and classes are actually starting to get kind of tough, you might find yourself contemplating dropping out of school and that’s okay—it happens to the best of us. After being away all summer with very little responsibility, it’s hard coming back and having the stress of 5 classes, 3 clubs and a job all on your plate. There comes a point where you feel like you might just explode—this is when you just need to get away. Pick a weekend when you have nothing going on, grab a few of your girlfriends and just drive until you forget all of your problems. Road trips can be some of the most fun experiences when you do them right. And I’m here to tell you exactly what you need to make that happen.

1. Great friends

First thing’s first, you have to choose the right friends to go with you on your weekend getaway. If you’re going on a somewhat long road trip, you’re gonna need some entertainment along the way. This is why you take the friends that you laugh with the most and have the most fun with.

2. A bomb playlist

The playlist is easily one of the most essential things when planning to take a road trip. You can’t rely on the radio because no one wants to keep changing stations every time you enter a new city. I highly suggest getting a Spotify account if you don’t have one so that you can make your own playlists (They have a student discount)! But if you don’t have an account, don’t worry! Spotify has a bunch of awesome pre-made playlists like this one above!

3. SNACKS!

The snacks are definitely my favorite part of taking a road trip. Just stop at a gas station, fill up the tank and run in to load up on some of your favorites. Some of mine are Pringles, Oreos and Cheez-its. Oh yeah and don’t forget the coffee if you’re in for a long ride jamming out with your friends.

 4. Comfy clothes

I don’t know about you, but I like to be comfortable when I am in the car for a long time. That’s why my friends and I usually just roll out of bed in our pajamas and jump in the car. No one will be there to see you except your BFF’s (just don’t get caught sleeping so no one can put it on Snapchat). Don’t forget your pillows and blankets, too, for extra comfort.

5. A plan

Lastly, you’re definitely going to need a plan. Choose somewhere that you and your friends have always wanted to go and then book a hotel, find a car, and you’re pretty much good to go. Just be sure to handle all the logistics before you take off on your trip so you’re not stressed out along the way.

And there you have it. That, my friends, is everything you need to have an amazing road trip with your friends!
