5 Ways to Survive Villanova Midterms

And so the anxiety kicks in… How is it already midterm week? It seems like classes just began. Maybe I should’ve paid attention more in my 8:30 class. Why didn’t I keep up with the readings? Why is one paper worth 40 percent of my grade? Thoughts are streaming through all our heads, but we don’t know how to handle it all.

Here are some tips on how to survive midterm week and still do well:

1. Organize yourself

Put that Lilly Pulitzer planner to use! Write down all the assignments that are due this week so you can manage your study time.

2. Don’t forget to catch some Zzz’s

Drinking three cups of coffee plus two Red Bulls at 1 a.m. will make your body hate you if you’re not used to having that much caffeine at one time. Not only will you wake up drowsy and exhausted, but also you won’t be able to even think straight on your exam. Make it a goal to get at least six hours of sleep.

3. Reward yourself

Between studying for different exams and writing papers, your brain will probably need a break. Make plans to get Hope’s Cookies with your friends, go to Connelly for late night, give yourself a facial or even just watch an episode (or a couple) of your favorite TV shows on Netflix to treat yourself. You deserve it!

4. Hit up the Davis Center

You may feel like you’re going to go insane if you study for another minute, so take an hour break to go to the Davis Center. Working out will release endorphins and make you feel good! Studies have shown your brain is more focused and rejuvenated after working out.

5. Make sure to eat the right foods!

Some of us can admit we’re stress-eaters, while others forget to eat altogether when we’re stressed. Snacks like blueberries, almonds or apples with peanut butter are perfect to take with you to the library. Also, remember to eat breakfast before an exam so you’re stomach isn’t grumbling halfway through the test!
