The Pros and Cons of Going Home For Summer Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at VCU chapter.

Summer vacation is starting soon and for many VCU students this means going back home to visit family and friends. While this vacation is usually a much needed break, three months away from campus definitely has its pros and cons. Here are some reasons why leaving VCU for the summer to go back home can be the best and worst thing ever.

1. Pro: Getting to see all your friends from back home.

2. Con: Realizing that while you were gone you didn’t have to deal with any drama your friends had and now they want you to play peacekeeper.

3. Pro: Living with your family equals free food!

4. Con: Living with your family also equals things you don’t have at college like curfews and chores.

5. Pro: Having a summer job means you’re getting paid.

6. Con: Having a summer job means your free time is limited.

7. Pro: Going to go back to school at the end of summer.

8. Con: Having to say goodbye to the people you love all over again.
