Finals are coming up at the end of the month! Before you start freaking out, here are some quick things that you can do to start preparing for those dreaded finals now.

1. Do your readings.

If you are anything like me, reading textbooks is a pain and is super easy to put off. Unfortunately, reading five chapters the day before an exam is near impossible so save yourself the stress and start reading those textbook chapters before it is too late.

2. Start to organize and review your notes.

This is especially for people like me who hand-write their notes. Notes can get lost in your notebook and backpack, so search for them now before it’s too late! If you hand-write notes, a good study tip is to digitalize them, meaning just type them up,  so you will be reading over all of your notes again and the information will be better engrained into your memory.

3. Check out the exam schedule.

Go look at VCU’s exam schedule and see what exams are on what days. By doing this you will be able to plan what classes to study for ahead of time so when exams do come up you will be ready to get that study time in.

4. Go to SI sessions.

SI is there to help you! At this point in the semester it is easy to start slipping away; use SI session to get you back in the studying routine so that it will be a piece of cake when exam time comes around.

5. Plan study groups.

Group studying can be a really helpful studying tool and it is not too early to start studying for your finals with them. Gather a group of people from your class and meet once a week to start preparing for your test — it will be worth it in the long run.

Deep breaths, collegiettes! With these tips you will be super prepared for those finals! Good luck from the Her Campus VCU team!
