Films You Need to See Before Watching ‘Infinity War’

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at VCU chapter.

I happened to go see “The Avengers: Infinity War” on premier night and although I got there super early, there was a long line wrapped around the theater. My friends and I were all talking about what characters would be in the film, how unbelievably attractive Captain America is and what we were expecting. There were already rumors about what happens in the movie and people in line were talking about theories that I couldn’t even wrap my head around.

This movie has been years (in terms of the Marvel cinematic universe) and decades (in terms of the comics) in the making, and Marvel has been waiting to mess with us for a long time. All 18 films contribute to the anticipation, but here are the ones I think are most important:

“The Avengers”

This is where it all began for the Avengers, and also where many of the characters assembled for the first time. This movie introduces a character that another character in “Infinity War” is based around. Hint, hint!

“Captain America: Civil War”

I think this is one of the more obvious movies that you need to have seen, and probably the most important. Several of the characters are introduced in this movie and Marvel does a good job of touching on everyone’s background. To understand the characters, this is a must-see movie before seeing “Infinity War.”

Two other movies I think are relevant, but not a must see to understand the film, are “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Black Panther.” These two films are amazing and you should see them anyway, but I don’t necessarily think you have to watch them before “Infinity War.” The new Avengers movie actually does a really good job introducing the characters from these two movies, so I don’t think anyone in the audience will be confused on who they are.

Overall, I hope you go out to enjoy this new Marvel movie which has brought in over $630 million in the first weekend. Prepare however you like, but most importantly, bring a friend to the movie so you can stare at each other at the end in complete awe, disbelief or however you may react!

If you’re a die-hard fan of Marvel movies, you have to see this movie ASAP. The film, in my opinion, was really well done based on visual effects as well as the script. You can prep to go see it as much as possible, but you will never be ready for what is coming.

All I have to say is that my heart can’t take this. Grab your popcorn and enjoy!
