Guests will have the opportunity to watch what the New York Times calls “one of the hottest 'cause' documentaries in years…” for FREE amongst members of the VCU student body and staff. In just the past two semesters, they have shipped $1.4 million worth of medical supplies overseas. Today, hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of excess medical supplies are constantly being donated to their organization. READ MORE |

5th Annual River City Ballroom Dance CompetitionBy March 23, 2013 - 9:00am River City Ballroom Dance Company is hosting its 5th annual ballroom dance competition. Competitors and spectators will gather at the Greater Richmond Convention Center on Saturday, March 23, to participate in Richmond’s very own dance competition. Veronica Braun, one of the event organizers, said the Company started the competition in Richmond because it can get expensive to travel to competitions in D.C. and surrounding areas. She said they are expecting a crowd of more than 100 people for the various competitive events scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Participants are divided by age and ability for fair and fun competition. French Film FestivalBy March 21, 2013 - 12:00pm The French Film Festival is back for its 20th year at the Byrd Theatre in Carytown this spring. From Thursday, March 21 through Sunday, March 24, you have the chance to see over 20 feature and short films by award-winning directors and up-and-coming filmmakers. This annual festival is a collaboration of efforts from professors from both Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Richmond. For 10 years now the former French ambassador to the U.S., His Excellency Jean-David Levitt, has recognized it as the most important French film festival in the country. The Victor Haskins Group at Bogart's in the FanBy March 13, 2013 (All day) One of our Campus Celebrities, Victor Haskins, will soon be playing music at Bogart’s in the Fan (1903 W Cary St.) every week! His band, The Victor Haskins Group, established their residency at the restaurant and music venue last September and regularly performs there, but starting March 13th they will play every Wednesday night from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. Victor has been accepted to the Betty Carter's Jazz Ahead program at the Kennedy Center and will be gone for the March 13th and March 20th show; however, he will be temporarily replaced by Professor John D'earth who will not disappoint!
