How/when did you begin modeling?
I started the summer going into my senior year of high school when I was 17. My first shoot was set up by one of my friends, Issie Carey, who models with an agency based in New York.
Who inspired you to begin modeling?
I used to watch America’s Next Top Model and fell in love with Allison Harvard; out of everyone I would have to say she inspired me.
Do you get paid for shoots?
Depends on the shoot; product shooting such as clothing, jewelry, etc. I do get paid $50-100 an hour. Other times I get paid in product, or if it is a collaboration, then it is just trade for trade. Both the photographer and model get pictures added to our portfolios.
How do you think modeling will advance your career goals?
I wouldn’t say it will advance my career goals because as of right now I want to be a cosmetic plastic surgeon, which is the opposite spectrum of modeling. Modeling, for me, is a hobby. I do it because I love it and the artistic expression behind it. I get to be/look like someone I am not.
Would you ever want to make modeling or the industry your career?
No, the industry is too messy, and there is too much that goes on behind what is shown to the public (not good stuff). I like freelance and working with smaller companies or individuals.
Have you every walked in a runway show?
I did once when I was first starting out, but I enjoy doing print work much more than shows.
What companies or brands have you shot for?
Lots of hair salons in Seattle, Shop Misha, Indigo Tide, Sterling Sliver, Atelierdelphine, The Bohipstian, Shop Lembas, Pip-squeak Chapeau, Tullarue, Sula Clothing, Designer Megan Huntz and a few others.
If you could go back in time, would you have begun modeling at a younger age if possible?
Yes, of course. I am always open to opportunity, so if something had presented itself at an earlier age I would have gone with it.
What was your favorite shoot and why?
I can’t say that I have a favorite shoot. Everyone I do is different and each photographer I work with is different with his or her own style.
