5 Things to Keep You Positive During Finals

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at VCU chapter.

It’s that time of year! In the midst of all the joyous occasions that accompany the holiday season that is now in full effect and with classes finally coming to an end, all that you probably want to think about is taking a much needed break. But we simply cannot do that quite yet, unfortunately. Why that is? It’s finals week. Of course, like any other college student right now, I’m looking for absolutely anything to give me a good mental break. So I did you a favor, here’s some things lighten the study mood! I’m going to tell you about five awesome things that have happened or will happen in the midst of what will seem like a never ending two weeks.

1. Miguel

Oh, Miguel. That sweet, sultry voice never seems to disappoint. If you need some relaxing, diverse jams to add some variety to your study playlist, his new album “War & Leisure,” is definitely the one! I have listened to it nonstop these past 48 hours and cannot seem to get enough. The title is the perfect description of the album’s perfect mix of slow jams and a few feel good tunes that will put your mind in such a happy place. 10/10 would recommend everything about this album.

2. The multitude of amazing Urban Outfitters sales

I’m sure we can agree that UO is one of the best stores, with such a consistently great selection of all types of clothing, accessories and even house decorations. But, it can also be agreed that sometimes the prices are just a little too high for what the product is. Luckily, with Christmas around the corner, as well as wanting to reward yourselves for all the work you’ve been putting in, Urban has had all the killer deals back to back. 50 percent off of random items, 50 percent off of house decorations, 50 percent off of sweaters – sign me up. Enjoy some online browsing when you take a little study break!

3. A random snow day

Now this really put me in the holiday spirit. I usually go all of winter waiting and praying for a good snow that usually takes way too long to come. This time it came without me even expecting it and on a weekend! It was a wonderful weekend, before finals officially began, to stay in with friends and achieve the ultimate level of coziness. A wonderful view and the perfect excuse to rest myself before a long and stressful week. Thank you mother nature.

4. Time Magazine

So proud of the very famous and most anticipated cover for the magazine as a whole, to have a few of the women that first stepped out and gave much needed awareness to sexual assaults and harassment be the “Person of the Year,” gives me hope. These women, along with those that followed, made 2017 a year of lessons for all of us women living in this generation, to stand up for ourselves and against those that harm us. Girl Power — that’s truly all I have to say about that.

5. The holiday season

Lastly, the thing that should get you through and keep your hopes high. Just think, when you finish with finals, no matter what holiday you celebrate this season, it’ll be basically here once school officially wraps up and you’ll be reunited with your loved ones.

With that, I hope you collegiette’s study hard and stay strong! You will persevere and come out on top, just think of these little positives to help get you to that well deserved finish line!
