Vegan Friendly Restaurants in Nashville

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Vanderbilt chapter.

Anyone new (or old) to Nashville knows that we are a city famous for music…and food. But mostly food, right? As a vegetarian or vegan, it can be hard to find a fun place to eat when your friends keep begging to go to Hattie B’s. Thankfully, Nashville has your back (or your stomach shall I say).  Here are some delicious vegan-friendly restaurants to definitely put on your bucket list:

Grins Vegetarian Café: Best part about it is…it’s on Vanderbilt’s campus and on the meal plan! This chill café has dine-in or take out options with delicious wraps and vegan mac-n-cheese. Oh, and desserts.

AVO: Hip, posh, and just a few miles off campus. AVO is a super new restaurant with a very Nashville vibe.  If you’re 21, they have top-notch signature cocktails to try out as well.

Wild Cow: Located in East Nashville, Wild Cow is a vegan’s best friend.  Everything on the menu is vegan and the portion sizes are HUGE! A must.

Woodlands Indian Vegetarian Cuisine: Feeling spicy? Woodlands is right next to Vandy and is great for a quick meal a la carte or buffet-style.

Gojo Ethiopian Café and Restaurant: This is not a restaurant, this an experience.  Try out traditional Ethiopian cuisine, which is finger-food style dips and veggies with bread as a spoon. Um, yes please.

Sunflower Café: A cozy café with comfort foods and healthy entrees. Everything is locally sourced and plus you can get adorable pics with their giant wooden sunflowers!

If you ever need a veggie-lover friend to take out on the town, the Vanderbilt Initiative for Veg. Awareness would love to meet you! We are open to vegetarian, vegan, or curious meat-eaters and have lots of restaurant and campus dining tips to share.
