Why did you decide to audition for Much Ado About Nothing?I auditioned because I’ve been going to see Shakespeare plays since I was 5 years old, and I’ve been involved in theatre since sixth grade. Much Ado was the perfect opportunity to combine two things that I love! I was so lucky that I had enough time this semester to be a part of this production!
What character do you play? What is she like?I play Hero. She comes from a respectable family, and she’s grown up knowing that someday she will marry the man her father chooses and live happily ever after. She’s never really questioned that life path, but a few things happen in the play that threaten it, so I think she grows up a lot over the course of the show.
What is your favorite part about performing? My favorite thing about performing is getting to see things from a perspective unlike my own! There are a lot of moments in this show when my character reacts to situations very differently than I would, and I love figuring out why that is and learning from it.
What other activities are you involved in?I’m also involved in The Original Cast, Tour Guides, and Chi Omega!
What is your favorite thing about Vanderbilt? My favorite thing about Vanderbilt is the feeling of community, especially among the performing arts groups on campus. It’s so great to have the chance to rehearse and perform in shows with my friends and be supported by so much of the Vanderbilt community.
