Meet Adriana Ocon, Angel Tree Co-Chair!By December 3, 2012 - 6:13pm Adriana Ocon, a sophomore, is one of the most gorgeous girls I know. Just looking at her, you might assume that she is one of those people who gets by on their looks, but Adriana most certainly does not. She's positive, friendly, intelligent, and extremely involved on-campus. Meet Chrissy Oberg, a Qualifier for Last Year's Olympic Trials in Swimming!By November 28, 2012 - 12:04am Meet Chrissy Oberg, a sophomore student on the Varsity swim team. I’ve been lucky enough to have Chrissy as a classmate, so I interviewed her to get to know a little more about her. She is a South Carolina native and even qualified for the Olympic Trials this past year! She loves Econ almost as much as her dog and she always makes family a priority. Here are a few more facts! Harvey Burrell: A Filmmaker in Our MidstBy November 16, 2012 - 12:30pm When did you start making films? I was 13 years old when I made my first film. I was a skate punk at the time but I was no good at skateboarding, so I started filming my friends. We used an old VHS camera that my buddy Luke's dad had around. I remember all the films looking really bad, but we had fun. I didn't get serious until high school, and even then it was really just an excuse to hangout with my friends. Meet Ellen Reat, Geology Major and Gamma Chi!By November 8, 2012 - 2:09pm Ellen Reat is a Tennessee native and a Vanderbilt Senior, majoring in Geology. I got the chance to meet her during Alternative Spring Break two years ago- sleeping in a tent in the middle of the Arizona desert is actually the perfect place to get to know someone! Meet One of the Newest Melodores, Nate Banks!By October 15, 2012 - 8:52pm The Melodores are Vanderbilt’s much-loved male a capella group who make sweet music in their various appearances on campus. Their first performance at the Last Drop Coffee Shop was packed with fans and self-proclaimed “melowhores,” which was no doubt a precursor for the rest of the year. The Melodores then took on several new members from the Class of 2016 who have since provided them with unique talent. Debuting at the Zeta philanthropy event, RaiZing Awareness, was one such freshman, who did a rendition of Jason Mraz’s “I Won’t Give Up." So find out about the man behind the music, Nate Banks. Cornelia Buchanan: A Girl in Charge!By September 29, 2012 - 10:43am Vanderbilt's Rent the Runway team is extremely active on campus. In fact, if you're in a sorority or ANY campus organization that requires you to dress up for events, you've probably heard of RTR. Before college, one of my best friends got a dress from Rent the Runway for homecoming, and I remember thinking that she was the coolest, trendiest person ever. But here at college, RTR is a staple for sorority girls- after all, we can't buy a new dress for EVERY single date party or we'd be broke! Cornelia Buchanan, the person behind Vanderbilt's RTR team, has just launched a new initiative called the It Girl Closet and it sounds like the perfect deal for every socially active girl on campus. Meet Simone Abella, Director of the Gamma Chi Program!By September 20, 2012 - 5:42pm Simone Abella is a senior at Vanderbilt University and the current Director of the Gamma Chi Program. For those of you participating in formal Panhellenic recruitment, a Gamma Chi is a disaffiliated Greek woman who leads a group of potential new members through the recruitment process. Simone currently leads all of the Gamma Chis by helping to train and organize them. Q: What is your major? A: English, with a double minor in Biological Sciences and Chemistry. Q: What does your average day look like? A: I try and keep my classes scheduled during the morning, so I can make all my meetings and lab research without any conflicts. Meet James Quick, Member of the Vandy Women's Basketball Practice Team!By September 15, 2012 - 11:27pm Meet James Quick, a Vanderbilt senior and a member of the practice team for women’s basketball! He’s a computer science major who loves to play basketball for fun but was able to amp up his passion through this opportunity to play with the ladies. As a practice team member, he competes against the Vanderbilt women so they can prepare for especially competitive games. How long have you been on the practice team for women’s basketball? Three years. I would have done it my first year, but I didn’t know about it. It’s pretty hidden and most people are surprised it exists when I tell them about it.
