When the popular #NoShaveNovember hashtag comes around every year, ladies fancy over the selfies of our favorite bearded guys. However, this month I started to notice the hashtag “#NoMakeUpNovemeber” on Instagram and Snapchat, and it immediately caught my attention.

The “No Makeup November” campaign was originally started by a Christian organization, Rave Ministries, which wanted to promote women accepting their true beauty. They wanted women to fight their daily urge to grab their makeup bags, and take that time to self reflect on their self worth. They had over 4,000 participants, and are hoping even more ladies will choose to become a part of this movement.

If you’re on the fence about whether or not you can actually do it, think about the benefits:

  • You’re giving your pores a break, time to cleanse itself, and breathe. Even after a week you’ll notice subtle changes to your skin.
  • While your complexion is getting clearer and healthier, you’re also saving animals harmed by dangerous practices in the production of makeup!
  •  You’ll have a lot more time in the mornings to get dressed, or more time to sleep in.
  • You won’t have to worry about touchups throughout the day or your eyeliner smudging. Dodging your makeup will make you feel carefree and confident. J

So, let’s join a movement that can not only help ourselves, but encourage other girls to love themselves and embrace their flaws with or without makeup.
