I’m a Living Incarnation of Robin Scherbatsky

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Valdosta chapter.

I’m not the same girl I was when I was 16. In what way you ask… well I’m not as judgmental, I identify myself as a feminist, and I will always put my dreams and goals before a man. I didn’t think there was anyone else out there that was like me. Then, I started watching the show, How I Met Your Mother. Watching the character Robin Scherbatsky seemed very familiar to me. She was a woman who had dreams and goals in the media field and wasn’t going to let any kind of romantic relationship get in the way. Also, she wasn’t really too big on getting married and having kids. I had no idea why I loved watching Robin and why she seemed so familiar to me.

Then suddenly it had hit me after binge watching a couple of seasons. Robin was me, and I was Robin. In other words, I had realized that I was a living incarnation of Robin Scherbatsky. I have big dreams and goals in the media field, I’m not too crazy and hung up on the marriage and kids thing, I’m funny, and charming. The only thing that’s pretty much missing is the whole teenage popstar thing… but other than that twinsies!

Growing up, I never really had a television character that I could really relate to, the way I relate to Robin. But that’s probably because I didn’t really know who I was before and I was still finding myself. Today, I’m the type of woman who is very ambitious when it comes to her goals and dreams, and I will never let anyone stand in the way of them.

HCXO!
